TUESDAY 26TH MAY 2020

We will meet outside Tesco in The Street Rustington at 9am.We will first visit Bodiam Castle which is a 14th century moated castle. Built by Sir Edward Dalyngrigge in 1385. Although the interior is ruined it gives an excellent sense of the relative luxury of a well-appointed 14th century manor house.

We then go to Bodiam Station where we may be able to see the carriage that conveyed Dame Edith Cavell (no relation) to Westminster Abbey. The carriage was also used to transport the body of the unknown warrior to Westminster Abbey.

We will then board the train for a trip to Tenterden and a ploughmans lunch.

Tickets £50 includes coach trip, entrance to Bodiam Castle, return journey to Tenterden and a ploughman's lunch.
